[Security Solutions for Hospitals/Clinics]: Focusing on Health and Security

The dental clinic is protected automatically like a smart fortress.
"We could have bought a Maybach, but instead, we chose to build a dental paradise with microscopes, oral cavity scanners, and uninterrupted power supply."
Anton Reznikov, the head and owner of the clinic, said.

These words perfectly describe his approach to technology. The high-end clinic in the heart of the Ukrainian capital is controlled directly from a smartphone. Starting at the parking gate, where the barrier opens with a tap on the phone, and ending with the ventilation system, which automatically shuts off when the clinic is activated for security. The security system in such a clinic couldn't be less technologically advanced than the facility itself.
Challenge
We have to protect medical equipment worth over 18 billion VND from theft, fire, and floods.

Reasons for choosing Ajax
Easy installation : The protected object is secured right from the construction and renovation stages. Later, any sensor can be moved to a fixed location.
Ecosystem : Users can easily add new devices to the system, and the control panel software is updated over the network. This facilitates expanding the scope of protected areas as the business grows and expands.
User experience : Carefully designed mobile apps and browsers, convenient interfaces, and automated scenarios make the system feel as familiar as an iPhone in the owner's pocket.
Style: The device performs its protective function well while perfectly complementing the home's design.
Solution
73 Ajax wireless devices for the entire clinic, including the outdoor area, waiting room, operating room, doctor's office, service and technical facilities.
The construction of the clinic took a year and a half, during which time the system expanded with new equipment. The clinic owner focused on security at every stage, considering the security system as an essential tool in the construction process.
"We adhere to the principle of selecting the best partners and equipment. This helps us move closer to perfection and lead the field. Medicine is a field we are very familiar with and always lead in, and in the field of security, of course, that's Ajax,"
Anton Reznikov, Orthodontist, founder of TDC Clinic.

Integrated method for protection
The TDC clinic is located in the heart of Kyiv and features multiple levels of professionally designed security.
The building's entrance is via a gate, followed by a barrier and a separate clinic entrance. Each step is automated using relay or wall switch contacts. The relay controls all systems: opening the gate, raising the barrier, and opening the front door.
Thanks to video surveillance cameras, clinic staff can monitor the situation and manage the gate with just a click on their phone (or press the Ajax button).
The clinic's outdoor area spans 60 square meters. MotionCam Outdoor sensors with cameras and sirens are installed in the yard and at the back. The building is old, with walls over a meter thick, so ReX radio signal boosters provide stable coverage and communication between the Hub 2 security system control panel and the building.

There is currently a backup generator in the clinic's backyard. If an intruder attempts to approach the generator, external sensors will detect movement and immediately send images to clinic staff and the security company. A loud siren will then scare the intruder away and attract the attention of neighbors.

Window guard without bars
All the clinic's windows were reinforced with a shatterproof film. Therefore, installing GlassProtect sensors on the windows became pointless—there was no continuous low- and high-frequency sound characteristic of breaking glass. The clinic opted for MotionProtect Curtain sensors with a narrow horizontal viewing angle to protect the windows in the operating room and doctor's office. If an intruder attempted to enter through a window, the curtain-style sensor would activate, and the system would sound an alarm.

Internal protection
The most critical areas of the clinic—the sterilization room, operating room, and doctor's office—are protected by MotionProtect Plus and MotionCam sensors. Each sensor is installed based on the specific characteristics of the room. MotionCam sensors with cameras are installed in hallways and rooms near the front door, making it easy to capture images of intruders before they proceed further.

Medical equipment in operating rooms and other rooms can cause temperature disturbances. Therefore, MotionProtect Plus sensors with additional microwave sensors are installed in these rooms to avoid false alarms and only react when there is a real intrusion.

Automation scenarios
The ventilation system in the clinic building is divided into two circuits: one for the rooms and service rooms, and the second for the operating rooms. Ventilation control is automated using relays and wall switches . When the security mode is activated, ventilation automatically turns off; when it is deactivated, it turns on. In the Ajax application, users can control the power supply for each circuit separately.
Ventilation status is controlled via a MultiTransmitter — sensors connected to it report on electronic malfunctions and air filter status.
In addition to ventilation, the clinic also automatically turns lights on/off when the system is activated/deactivated. Furthermore, smart sockets will shut off the pumps, and solenoid valves will close the water valves throughout the building if the Ajax flood sensor detects a water leak.

Water resource control
A continuous water supply is crucial to the clinic's operation: while patients are being examined/treated, doctors cannot interrupt surgery or examination procedures.
To this end, a 500-liter tank was installed in the clinic's technical room. It circulates purified water, which is supplied to the dental unit in each doctor's office. If the city's water supply system fails, the clinic will continue to operate as normal for two days – there will be enough water for medical treatments and daily needs.
Using a DoorProtect sensor and a magnetically charged converter connected via an external terminal, the clinic can monitor the water level in the tank: if it drops to one-third, staff will receive a notification on the Ajax app on their phone. When the water supply is restored and the tank is full, the app will notify that the water level has been restored.

Flood protection and fire protection
LeaksProtect sensors are installed in the technical room with the water tank, in bathrooms, laundry rooms, under water heaters, and in the kitchen. These compact devices detect the first signs of water leaks, immediately alerting and shutting off the pumps. Following several flooding incidents, the clinic installed flood sensors in the apartments above, connecting these devices to the clinic's security system.

The clinic is equipped with a combined fire detection and alarm system. It includes FireProtect Plus sensors and third-party wired fire sensors connected to the Ajax system via MultiTransmitter. FireProtect Plus sensors are installed in the kitchen, server room, and compressor room. They detect smoke, sudden temperature increases, and dangerous CO (carbon monoxide) levels within seconds. Third-party sensors are installed in all rooms within the clinic for additional monitoring.

Monitoring and alerts
The clinic's security system is connected to a security company's monitoring station. A patrol team is ready to act immediately upon receiving an alert. At the same time, the clinic owner and staff are always aware of what is happening thanks to the Ajax application.
At the clinic's reception desk, there's a button set to an emergency alert mode. Pressing this button will call for help in case of an emergency.
