MOT Exhibition

Displaying valuable works of art in exhibitions always presents a challenge for the security industry. Mobile structures, architectural features, and large visitor volumes demand flexible solutions for complex security.

The Module of Transience (MOT) is a 417 m² exhibition space comprising 27 metal containers. Inside the containers are paintings, sculptures, installations, and sound-visual works by 28 artists from 10 different countries. This exhibition is dedicated to the theme of Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

Unlike traditional museums, MOT's shipping containers are situated right in the middle of a square in the center of Kyiv. The exhibition doors are open to the public every day for three months. After that, the art space will be dismantled and then reinstalled in a new location.

Challenge

Protect exhibits and architectural structures with the ability to relocate security systems.

The radio signal was poorly positioned. All the walls and large panels were made of metal. This material blocked and weakened the radio signal. Furthermore, the signal was further weakened by the metal objects within the space. Therefore, to provide a strong radio signal, the engineers needed to calculate the precise number and optimal placement of all sensors and range extenders on the site.

Ensuring mobility for relocation. The MOT exhibition is planned to be presented in various countries. However, to move to a new location, the organizers must dismantle all structures along with the security system. The location of the containers may change, but regardless of the change, the security system must still provide a stable radio signal.

"The foundation of our project is an international exhibition where many artists have created and provided works on the theme of transience. Although for each of them, presenting their work in a country at war and where art insurance is not possible is unusual, they have entrusted us with their precious paintings, installations, and sculptures."

The Ajax security system was trusted to protect them from damage, theft, or flooding, allowing the project team to monitor the space day and night and even control the equipment remotely.

Team Don't Take Fake

Why use Ajax?

Safe. Strong radio signals under all conditions thanks to Jeweller radio communication technology. As the distance between containers increases, the sensors maintain stable operation thanks to the range extender.

Mobile. In the event of moving and reinstalling the exhibition, the security system will retain its settings and will not need to be reconfigured.

Convenience. The ability to control the security system from a smartphone gives MOT teams the opportunity to quickly activate or deactivate the system without expert intervention.

Design. The gallery is equipped with LightSwitch devices, harmonizing with the design of the art space.

Solution

62 detectors and range extenders to bring flexibility to the art space.

The installation engineers used the Hub 2 Plus control panel. This model is capable of supporting a larger number of security devices and user groups.

Receptionists, office staff, and gallery attendants use the KeyPad Plus wireless touchpad to access exhibition areas and office spaces. No Ajax application installation is required; knowing the code is sufficient.

To enhance the signal, two ReX 2 range extenders were installed on different levels of the exhibition. Ajax engineers positioned the range extenders so that all 62 sensors received the same stable radio signal.

Twenty-five DoorProtect Plus sensors are used to protect windows and doors. These sensors are installed on windows and glass structures. Furthermore, 12 CombiProtect sensors, capable of detecting motion and glass impact, are placed inside the areas.

If any of the sensors are triggered, StreetSiren, mounted on the outside of one of the containers, will activate. The organization also uses a third-party CCTV system that has been integrated into the Ajax app.

Twenty LightSwitch smart switches, including two two-port switches and eighteen single-port switches, are used to regulate lighting within the areas. The organization controls the lighting via an Ajax app and uses automated scenarios for the smart lighting system.

Outside the exhibition area, there is an office, a reception desk, a hot water room, and a restroom on MOT territory. The restrooms have been equipped with two LeaksProtect sensors to detect leaks.
