The FireProtect 2 product line continues to expand. Ajax Systems announced the FireProtect 2 AC , a fire alarm system that operates on mains power. The release includes five models with a different sensor:
|
FireProtect 2 AC (Heat/Smoke/CO) |
This wireless fire alarm system operates on mains power and uses heat, smoke, and CO sensors. |
|
FireProtect 2 AC (Heat/Smoke) |
This wireless fire alarm system operates on mains power and uses heat and smoke sensors. |
|
FireProtect 2 AC (Heat/CO) |
This wireless fire alarm system operates on mains power and uses heat and CO sensors. |
|
FireProtect 2 AC (Thermal) |
This wireless fire alarm system operates on mains power and uses a heat sensor. |
|
FireProtect 2 AC (CO) |
This wireless fire alarm system operates on mains power with a CO2 sensor. |
The new fire alarm systems present a significant opportunity for Ajax partners. It's a chance to access countries with strict regulations regarding 110-240 V~ power grid connections. Security and installation companies can expand their business into the most heavily regulated markets. With FireProtect 2 AC, it's now possible to protect residences in Australia, the United States, the United Kingdom, Wales, Northern Ireland, the Netherlands, and many other countries.
Fire alarm systems that operate on mains power comply with the following standards:
1. EN 14604:2005/AC:2008
2. EN 50291-1:2018
3. EN 54-5:2017+A1:2018
4. BS 5839 (part 6, type D1)
5. UL 268 / CAN/ULC S529 — currently under review
6. UL 2075 / CAN/ULC S588 — currently under review
The guard booth has been reinvented.
FireProtect 2 AC – A direct-power fire alarm system that inherits all the features of FireProtect 2. The patented smoke chamber is dustproof and requires no frequent cleaning. Two A1R thermal sensors accurately detect temperature alerts. An integrated chemical CO sensor detects levels of toxic carbon monoxide in the air. Each alarm unit features a powerful 85dB siren to alert of fire hazards, with different sound patterns for each alert or event, making it easy to identify the type of alert and respond appropriately.
The fire alarm system operates on direct power and includes a built-in backup battery. Even in the event of a power outage, it continues to operate, ensuring rapid and reliable fire detection for up to 10 years.
The SmartBracket base has been redesigned for maximum convenience for professional users. It includes a mounting section and protective cover to ensure installers are safe from direct contact with electrical wires. Inside, it uses the familiar WAGO 221 connectors used by professionals in the industry. The connectors are housed inside the SmartBracket and can be easily removed and replaced during installation. The SmartBracket also has spare space for larger connectors if needed.
The fire alarm system can be installed in just 90 seconds without removing the protective housing. The connection process with WAGO requires no tools: simply pull the lever up, insert the wires, and push it down.
Enhance wireless connectivity features.
Mains-powered AC fire alarm systems have been upgraded with a more robust fire alarm connectivity feature — a backup connection. In addition to the primary connection via the Ajax control panel, the new fire alarms, like the control panel, are capable of listening on an encoded radio channel and triggering synchronized fire alarms directly from one fire alarm to another. This feature is mandatory for the UK and Australian markets.
The backup connection is a replica of the primary connection through the control panel. Both connections operate in parallel. Therefore, if one of the fire alarms in the system detects a hazard, it will send an alarm signal to the control panel via the Jeweller radio protocol using the primary connection. The control panel initiates the connected alarm within 20 seconds, three times faster than required by EN 14604. All information will be immediately available in the Ajax applications: the location of the first alarm sending the signal, the type of fire alarm, and the specific time of the alarm. Meanwhile, the first alarm initiates the backup connection, directly sending alarm signals to the other fire alarms. Even in the worst-case scenario of losing the connection to the control panel, the connected fire alarm is triggered within one minute. Therefore, there is no possibility of missing a fire alarm signal.
A connected fire alarm can also be triggered by pressing the ManualCallPoint , a wireless wall-mounted button for manually activating the fire alarm.
Life-Saving Technology
FireProtect 2 AC is part of the Ajax ecosystem. Every component of this ecosystem is self-diagnostic and continuously monitored. The device exchanges data with the central hub from a distance of 1,700 meters via the Jeweller radio protocol. The central hub is capable of bidirectional communication with the Ajax Cloud to provide real-time information to Ajax applications. The device does not require periodic manual checks to ensure proper connectivity and operation — the Ajax system monitors its status. With instant notifications, each system user is notified of alarms or incidents to receive timely service.
As part of the Ajax ecosystem, fire alarms can interact with MotionCam series automation devices, cameras, and PhOD detectors (both wired and wireless). A fire alarm signal can trigger scenarios to shut off potential sources of the alarm, unlock emergency exits, and activate emergency lighting. Meanwhile, MotionCam (PhOD), or Ajax cameras, provide visual verification via applications to determine the cause of the alarm.
FireProtect 2 AC will be available for order from authorized Ajax Systems partners in Q4 2023.
