As we can see from the table above, the names of Dahua camera devices are divided into 11 separate parts. Each part represents a different feature or model number, and we can therefore divide them into three main categories:

I. Camera Type:

  • DH is the name of the camera manufacturer. In this article, we will only discuss Dahua devices, because this combination of letters is the same in all cases.

  • IPC is an abbreviation for a type of video camera. The most common are digital (IPC) devices, but analog HDCVI (HAC) models are becoming increasingly popular.

  • H - a symbol indicating the camera's ability to capture images at high resolution. Because all modern surveillance systems require the installation of devices with a large number of pixels in a sensitive array, all new cameras by default have the letter H in their code.

II. Lens type and brand:

The following combination of letters can have one, two, or three letters, allowing us to identify the type of camera lens and body the manufacturer used.

  • F: Fixed box type.

  • D: Fixed-mount bridge type.

  • DW: Fixed-mount dome type with infrared.

  • DB: Fixed-mount bridge type with vandal-proof features.

  • DBW: Fixed-mount dome type with infrared and vandal-proof features.

  • HDPW: A flexible plastic sphere with infrared capabilities.

  • FW: Infrared Bullet

  • UM: Battery port

  • EBW: Fish eye

  • PFW: Box-shaped with wide viewing angle (multi-lens 180/360), with infrared.

  • MBW: Spherical, mobile and vandal-proof, with infrared (externally mounted).

The platform to which these types of cameras belong:

  • 2: Varifocal Lite version

  • 4: Environmentally friendly fixed version

  • 5: The environmentally friendly Varifocal version
