Enhanced Security with Topology Ring for the Fibra Product Line
Fibra is a data transmission tool between a central hub and connected wired Ajax devices. Fibra offers all the features of wireless Ajax products, including connectivity up to 2,000 meters, 60 hours of battery life for a system of up to 30 devices, vandal-proof protection, image verification, easy setup, and remote configuration via the app.

With OS Malevich 2.16, it is now possible to connect Ajax-wired devices to the hub via Topology Ring. This means that the Fibra product line is now protected from software and physical device interruptions. Furthermore, Topology Ring is more compatible with existing on-premise wiring.
Fibra technology: A revolution in wired devices.
Fibra is a data transmission tool between a central hub and connected wired Ajax devices. Fibra offers all the features of wireless Ajax products, including connectivity up to 2,000 meters, 60 hours of battery life for a system of up to 30 devices, vandal-proof protection, image verification, easy setup, and remote configuration via a mobile and desktop application.
To connect Fibra devices to the central hub, installers use 4-core cables, available in two types: Beam and Ring. Prior to OS Malevich 2.16, only Beam networks were available. The central hub could have a maximum of 8 connections. With the new firmware, it is now possible to connect devices to the central hub via a Ring network.
To create a Ring network connection, one end of the Fibra cable should be connected to one terminal on the control panel and the other end to the other terminal.
Once the Ring connection is established, the installer can easily configure the network in the Ajax PRO application. The hub identifies which connections are used to create the Ring network and sends a notification with the option to add the Ring network to the system.
Set up Ring connection automatically:
1. Open the Ajax PRO application.
2. Select the hub you want to add the Ring network to.
3. In the central state, you will see an option to register the discovered Ring networks.
4. Click Register.
Manual Ring connection:
1. Open the Ajax PRO application.
2. Select the hub you want to add the Ring network to.
3. Go to “Settings” and select Lines.
4. Select “Ring Connection” and click the “✚” icon.
5. Select the input and output line numbers. The numbers must be different.
6. Select “Add”. To save the changes, click “Back”.
In the event of a network disconnection, the Ring network will be split into two independently operating parts, and both the security company and the user will be notified of the incident.
The difference between Beam and Ring connections:
Beam connectivity uses a Fibra transmission line and requires no additional setup. Only the segment that remains physically connected to the central hub will function in the event of a line disconnection. All devices connected after the disconnection point will lose connectivity. Users and the security company will be notified of the incident when the central hub detects a loss of connection with the devices.

*Devices are connected to the Fibra network sequentially, as shown in the diagram. Splitting the network is not permitted.
Ring connectivity utilizes two Fibre lines and allows installers to protect the lines from physical disconnection. If the Ring network is interrupted at any point, no devices will cease functioning: two Beam networks will be formed, and devices on these lines will continue to operate and transmit alerts and events to the central hub. Furthermore, users and security companies will receive notification within 10 seconds of the incident.

More details:
| Beam | Ring |
Use a Fibre connection. |
Use 2 Fibre connections |
Up to 8 Beam Networks on one hub |
Up to 4 Ring Networks on one hub |
Up to 2,000 meters of cable connection for a single transmission line. |
Up to 500 meters of wired communication for a Ring Network. |
A terminating resistor needs to be installed at the end of the transmission line. |
No terminating resistor required. |
No additional installation required. |
Additional installations are required in the Ajax PRO application. |
Both Beam and Ring network types can be deployed on the same hub. For example, an installer could deploy a Ring connection and four Beams on a Hybrid Hub.
We recommend connecting devices using Ring (from the central hub to the device and back to the central hub) whenever possible. This improves the system's protection against vandalism.
Enhanced protection for areas at high risk of vandalism.

Illustration of Ring connection
By using Ring connections, installers can comprehensively protect Fibra transmission lines. Therefore, to ensure higher security reliability, Ring can be used in areas with a high risk of vandalism. These could include areas such as rooms with windows, front doors, areas where valuable assets are stored, and equipment located outside the building, among many others. For example, Ring is suitable for use on transmission lines with StreetSiren DoubleDeck installed outdoors or with KeyPads in main hallways.
Because both Ring and Beam can be deployed on the same central hub, installers have added flexibility and mobility when installing security systems.
For example, the ground-floor office has a hallway and four large rooms. Only two of the rooms have windows that look outside, making them potential targets for intruders. Also in the high-risk area is the hallway where the front door is located.
In this case, the installer could use three Ring connections—two in the rooms with windows and one in the hallway. And for the other two rooms without windows, they could use two Beam connections.
Both connections are compatible with any Ajax Fibra device: door open sensors, motion sensors with image verification, alarm systems, keypads, etc.
This allows for enhanced security where needed. The only limitations are the characteristics of the room and the cable length, which is 2,000 m for Beam and 500 m for Ring.
Improve outdated security systems.
Connecting Ring to a Fibra network also presents a great opportunity to modernize outdated security systems that already use Ring.
Installers can leverage existing wiring by replacing older equipment with Fibra equipment. This doesn't require reconfiguring the wiring, meaning installers save time and effort during system installation. And customers save money and resources on repairs they would need if the cabling were replaced with new cables.
