Ajax Relay: The Lifeblood of the Smart Home

Ajax Relay is a convenient relay device that helps automate everything in your home and office. Our new device allows you to remotely control low-power household appliances without needing assistance from smart home experts.

Relay power

Relay contacts can switch loads up to 5A with a 0-36V DC range and up to 3kW in 110-230V power supply. The relays are isolated from the device so they can be connected to the input control circuits of multiple other devices, thereby simulating a button or switch to turn one or more devices on or off. For 110-230V mains power, we recommend the more suitable WallSwith product – proven over time.

The relay opens and closes contacts based on user commands via the Ajax app on your phone. However, users can customize the relay settings to automatically change based on the activation/deactivation signals of the protection system. Thanks to its compact size – 28x25x18 mm – the relay can easily fit into electrical cabinets, switchboards, etc., in your home.

In addition to changing the relay's operating mode, the Ajax application allows users to monitor real-time power consumption parameters if the relay is connected to a single-source network. If the power flowing through the relay comes from multiple sources, the application will only display the voltage flowing through the relay. The application can also display the internal temperature of the relay for user monitoring.

Relay operating modes

To enhance usability, our relays support various operating modes and connection states to suit user needs:

  • Stable sales, when connected and switched on/off like a switch.
  • The clock pulse, when the connection is switched on and off within a range of 0.5 to 15 seconds, then automatically repeats the process in reverse.

Double protection.

To prevent accidents and equipment risks, we have enhanced the relay with a protection mechanism to prevent thermal overload and sudden voltage surges. This feature is fixed and cannot be switched off. When the temperature exceeds the relay's permissible threshold, 65°C outside the device or 80°C inside the device, the relay will open and send an alert. As soon as the temperature returns to normal, the relay will release and send a notification.

There are two voltage threshold values for the power supply: the lowest threshold is 6.5V, and the highest threshold is 36.5V. When the power supply is too high or too low, the protection function is activated, the device will shut down, and a warning message will be sent. After the power supply voltage parameters return to normal, the relay will release and notify the user.

How to use this relay

Connecting devices to relays minimizes conventional control processes, making your life much easier.

Gates and barriers: Open gates with a simple click on the Ajax mobile app, eliminating the need for outdated keys. The app is also secured with passwords and fingerprints, ensuring no one can enter without your permission.

Curtains and blinds: Can automatically open and close when someone enters the house or leaves the office.

Electric lock: Automatically locks when the system is activated and unlocks when the system stops. Quickly and easily check if everything is locked.

Routers: If network devices are connected via relays, you can restart the router through the app on your phone. The hub will continue to operate over the GSM network and automatically restore internet connectivity once the router has fully restarted.

Electronic shut-off valves: These water or gas valves can be controlled remotely when you're not around. They can also automatically shut off when you're away from home or at work.

Plans for the future

With two automated relay systems in our product line, it would be unwise not to take full advantage of their capabilities. Therefore, in the next operating system for the central hub, we will add full control scripts that allow users to easily set up sequences of actions for the device. Additionally, we will add options for alert scenarios, schedules, or specific events.
